NOTE: See my guide on how to apply planetary aspects to your own experience through your natal astrology here.

Sunday 11/11/2018 7:21:33am Pacific - Sun in Scorpio sextile Pluto in Capricorn (19d 11m)

Dynamic Cycle Phase: Approaching Sextile – Catharsis following letting go or acknowledging the passing away of something; initial vision and planning for a new, upcoming cycle

Degree Symbols: Sun (Sabian, Rudhyar version) – A Woman Draws Away Two Dark Curtains Closing The Entrance To A Sacred Pathway; Pluto (Charubel) – A person ascending a spiral staircase with sunshine at top, within a dark enclosure

The Sun and Pluto met in the initial conjunction of this cycle at nearly the same position that Pluto (due to slow motion and retrogradation) is found in this approaching sextile. The conjunction included the close proximity of Venus, and at this late degree of the third face of Capricorn, this gathering of planets was suggestive of plans and schematics for shedding old skin and beginning work on a new framework that will allow for a larger scale of growth and refinement. The involvement of Venus further suggested that money, aesthetics and relationships would be key factors in this particular cycle, meaning we aren’t going it alone – we are wise to involve and share with others, and not burn bridges. The Sun provides warmth, energy, vitality, and most importantly, identity – the finding of the true self, which for each person is a unique mixture of matter and consciousness. Pluto facilitates transformation through the merging of two beings, ideas of objects, changing the old forever and bringing forth something new. In Sun-Pluto aspect cycles, those strongly affected by the aspects experience personal transformation and evolution of consciousness that can be quite profound, sometimes necessitating or forcing big changes.

The opposition on 7/12/2018 had the potential for the release of a great deal of energy, and possibly the establishment of the structure for further growth conceived of in the conjunction. As the two objects now come closer together in the approaching sextile, soon to begin a fresh cycle, it will be good to look at our professional lives, or whatever work it is that we do that we feel defines us most as public figures, and see where it is that we need to concentrate our energy next in order to maintain our status as competent and respected in the work we do. With the Sun just coming off of a trine with Neptune and the asteroid Vesta currently conjunct Pluto, considering how we can view our work as service to the universe may be helpful to keep the fires of productivity burning enthusiastically and with renewed dedication. The key is renewing our relationship with our careers. Use this aspect to look at the current state of affairs in work and career, see where we may have lost touch with important details that may have changed slowly over time, and tie up loose ends in preparation for yet greater transfiguration of self.
